Crypto: Why the SUI Opportunity Is Slipping Away Faster Than You Think
Crypto moments like this don't come around too often.
It seems that with every new cycle, a fresh cryptocurrency is anointed.
They join the granddaddy, Bitcoin.
For me, it all started back in 2017 with Ethereum, which I eventually transitioned into Solana in 2021, and then to SUI around August 2024.
It’s been turbulent. It hasn’t been easy.
But like one of the sharpest minds in crypto investing, Chris Burniske, says:
"$BTC’s incredible strength sows seeds of doubt in alts, and those seeds of doubt are what create the next opportunity. Seen it happen repeatedly, with new reasons sprouting each time for why a rotation won't happen again — and yet, just as Earth spins, we'll rotate."
Right now, my inbox is packed with people asking:
"Jay, what do you reckon about [insert crypto]? Is it too late to get into SUI? Should I be selling? Is the cycle over? Should I rotate out of Bitcoin into SUI?"
And the truth is — it’s nuanced.
The questions I ask myself are simple: What’s the market cap? Where did Solana, last cycle’s big winner, peak in terms of market cap, and can I draw a fair comparison
Where are we in the cycle right now? How much runway do we really have ahead of us? And what’s your time horizon — are you playing for just this cycle, or are you in it for multiples?
Let’s unpack it all here — and get closer to the truth.
